Kenneth Boyd

Kenneth Robert Boyd, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013.Family and friends, since you are reading this, my time has come. As my time approached, I thought of you often. I was taken by the big "C" on Jan. 10, 2013. It's time for the facts. I was born May 15, 1945, when my parents were stationed in Orlando, Fla., and as soon as WWII was over, the family moved back to Chattanooga. Life was easy and fun as a kid and teen. Since I had little interest in school except band and girls (not in that order), I was much surprised when I graduated from City High School, class of '63. As I matured I found that I really liked to learn, and I finished my college degree from Columbia College while serving our wonderful country in the U.S. Navy. During my naval career, I served on seven Destroyers and numerous shore commands nationwide. After my retirement from the Navy, I worked for and retired from both General Dynamics and Sears Northgate. My parents, Ross and Marie Boyd, as well as our only child, Lori Lynn Boyd Hudson, preceded me in death. Life has been great, and I have only one regret. I wish I could have been home more often when Lori was little, but the Navy wanted me and my ship in Vietnam. I want to tell you that I had a wonderful life thanks to my best friend and the love of my life, my wife Linda. No wife could have been more supportive of me and a wonderful mother to our child. I also want to thank my cousin, Susie Henley, for always being there for me and my family for all these years. No services are planned at this time. Burial will be private. If you wish to remember me in some way, memorial contributions to the Pet Placement Center, 5975 Dayton Blvd., Chattanooga, TN 37415, or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, P.O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, TN 37416, will be appreciated. Special thanks to our wonderful hospice nurse, Cheryl Brewer, for her excellent care over these last few months and to Dr. Eric Ellis for his compassionate treatment throughout my illness. Arrangements by Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, 423-877-3524. Visit www.lanefh.com to share condolences.
