Avanell Morris

Avanell Gillespie "Marcie" Morris, 85, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.Mrs. Morris was a devoted wife and mother spending most of her life around children. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Morris and granddaughter, Candy Cantrell. Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Morris, of Soddy-Daisy, Nick (Robin) Morris, of Harrison and Timothy (Dana) Morris, of Parker, Colo.; daughters, Sherry (Mike) Cantrell, of Crossville, Tenn., and Sara (Robert) Morris, of Norfolk, Va.; brothers, Haskell Gillespie, of Pontotoc, Miss., Ralph (Ann) Gillespie, of Madera, Calif., and Verneel (Alvis) Aycock, of Pontotoc, Miss.; grandchildren, Scott, Andrew, Cassie, Zachariah, Abigail, Aleris and Alina; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Naomi Joy and Berlin and many nieces and nephews.Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grady Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton County Memorial Park. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, P.O.
