John Land

John D. "Pete" Land died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. He was born Jan. 19, 1938 in Dunlap, Tenn., to Lillard and Ova Lee Land. He served in the United States Navy for 9 years. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Land and Clyde Land, and sister, Kim Shell. He is survived by his wife,of 54 years, Willene Land; brother, Lance Land; children, Angie Abercrombie (Clayton), Darlene Gillispie, husband (Tony), Tracy Teague (Chris); grandchildren, Katy Saynes (Nick), Lindsay Kendall (Billy), Vickie Abercrombie (Matt), Candy Durham, Sammy Gillispie, and Jacob Teague; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. at Stuart Heights Baptist Church, 3208 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, TN officiated by the Reverend Larry Miller.
