Louise Smith

ROSSVILLE Kate Louise Smith, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. She was a native of Signal Mountain and had lived in the Chattanooga and Rossville areas for most of her life. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle in Chickamauga. Her passions in life were God, family, and enjoying her flowers.She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton "Smitty" Smith; parents, James and Ollie Mae Vandergriff; two sisters, Mildred Taylor and Irene Payne; and brother, Melton Vandergriff.Survivors include her children, Marlene Gentry, of Rossville, Patricia Henshaw, of Rossville, and Leon Smith, of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Chuck Gentry, Sherri Gentry, Wendy Stone, and Greg Henshaw; ten great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences may be sent to lane-southcrestchapel.com.Graveside services will be held Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Reverend Harold Taylor officiating.The family will receive friends today from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
