Martha James

Martha Sudduth James, 84, of Chattanooga passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.She was born in Hendersonville, N.C. and moved to Chattanooga in 1957. She worked in various medical offices in the city. In retirement she volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels. She loved gardening and was involved in the Stuart Heights Garden Club where she made many lasting friends.Martha was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered for her warm smile, quick sense of humor and graciousness. Rest well, the struggle is over and a new journey begins.She was preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years, Dale James. She is survived by her daughter, Terri (John) Lowe.The family would like to thank Hearth Hospice and the many caregivers at Elmcroft Assisted Living for their care and support during this time.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Skidmore officiating. Burial will be at Chattanooga Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northside Presbyterian Church or Hearth Hospice, 100 Mitchell Rd., Ft.
