Dolores Johnson

RINGGOLD, Ga. Dolores Alva Coombs Johnson, 94, cherished mother, went to be with her Savior Thursday Jan. 24, 2013. A resident of the North Georgia area for 68 years, she was born in Bonne Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. Dolores loved holding babies, knitting, gardening and sharing stories, of her homeland, Newfoundland. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for over sixty-five years and loved her Sunday School Class, the Mary Ruth Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ralph Johnson; parents, Thomas and Anna Moriah Butts Coombs; brothers; Wallace and Charles Coombs; sisters, Myrtle Parsons and Mary Neville and grandson, Damon Southerland. She is survived by sons, Tommy (Phyllis) Johnson, of Ringgold, Ga., and Randy (Connie) Johnson, of Lula, Ga.; daughters, Deanna (Cecil) Lockett, of Mars Hill, N.C., Karen (Paul) Westbrook, of Jasper, Tenn., Eudene Hannah, of Ringgold, Ga., and Pam (Ronnie) Southerland, of Ringgold, Ga.; sister, Georgia Gilliam, of Newfoundland; seventeen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Sullivan and Rev. Danny Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends today from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
