Elizabeth Griswold

Elizabeth Janet Griswold, 89, of Chattanooga walked hand-in-hand with Jesus into Heaven on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013. "Liz" was born Feb. 12, 1923 in Montello, Wisc., to David and Florence Owens. She was married to Arnold Griswold, of Madison Wisc., on Jan. 16, 1943. She was stricken with polio in July of 1949 but still was greatly involved in successfully raising two sons while working many jobs from her home. She enjoyed traveling, her crafts, her cross-word puzzles and her family. She moved to Chattanooga from Roswell, Ga., eleven years ago. She was a member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and servant of The Lord. She was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers; Owen Owens and Llewellyn Owens both of Wisc.She is survived by her sons Michael (Alice) Griswold, of Moscow, Idaho and Jerry (Linda), of Chattanooga and one brother, Charles Owens, of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Brainerd Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service.
