Jack Stutz

Our beloved Patriarch John Boyd "Jack" Stutz left this world in peace on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. He is affectionately named and known to his grandchildren as "Dodaddy". His birthplace is Chattanooga, Tenn., on Feb. 13, 1921 to the late Lucy B. Holloway and Paul E. Stutz. He is the youngest of seven children. He is our rock and spent his life committed in love to his late wife of 50 years, Vivian Corinne Sargent Stutz. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan E. Stutz-McDonald; and his grandson, Mark Milam Schmissrauter, Jr.He is a veteran of the Army Air Corp., during WWII. He owned, in partnership with his brothers, the Fountain Square Grocery Store on Georgia Avenue. In mid life, he became a Life Underwriter and District Manager for the Equitable Life Assurance Society. He is a communicant of St. Augustine Church and a devout Catholic who led a beautiful and blessed life. He is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and a graduate of Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, NC. He is survived by his four remaining children, Byron (Lynne) Stutz, Sally (Robin) Baker, Judy (Ed) Middleswart, and Dorothy Stutz Schmissrauter; Grandchildren include John Boyd (Megan) Stutz II, Dustin and Brent (Saara) Baker, Hugh Ryan, Jacqueline, and Jennifer McDonald, Alex Middleswart, and Aaron, Reagan and Matthew Schmissrauter; great-grandchildren include Elle and Kendall Stutz.Mass of the Resurrection will be 2 p.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Signal Mountain.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan E.
