Leona Park

Leona Cheek Park, 87, of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at her home. She was born June 10, 1925 in Delano, Tenn., to the late Arthur and Myrtle Cheek.She was a 1943 graduate of Polk County High School; a graduate of the Baroness Erlanger Nursing Program; and was a retired Registered Nurse from T.V.A. after 13 years of service. She also attended the Chicago School of Interior Design.Mrs. Park was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church and the Open Door Sunday School Class of which her husband is the Sunday School Teacher.She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Henry Park; son-in-law, Robert D. Baker; grandson, Robby Baker; and two brothers, Hubert Cheek and Joseph L. Cheek.Survivors include her husband of 66 years, J. Frank Park, Sr.; one daughter, Susan P. Baker, of Ooltewah; two sons, J. Franklin, Jr. and his wife Cynthia, of Apison, and Jody Park, of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren, Jenny, Jamie, Erin, Amy, Mike, Casey, and Kyle; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Emily, Taylor and Nicholas; one sister, Delores C. Wilson and her husband, Kenneth, of Knoxville; one brother, Eugene Cheek, of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2:30 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Dr. David King and Rev. Jim Barclay officiating. Burial will be in Benton Perpetual Care Cemetery in Benton, Tennessee.
