Hettie McCants

Hettie Jane McCants, 76, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at a local hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church E. 8th Street. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the March of Dimes. She was a retired educator from the Hamilton County School System. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Crawford B. Lindsay, Sr. and Rachel D. Lindsay. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Jesse Lee McCants, Sr.; sons, Jesse L. McCants, Jr. of Chattanooga and Jerel L. McCants, of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Sheree' McCants Joyce, of Nashville, Jacinta L. McCants (Darnell) McGavock, and Janella L. McCants both of Chattanooga; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Henry Lindsay, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Crawford Lindsay, Jr., of Nashville; cousin, Barbara Howard, of Birmingham, Ala.; several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Noon at Resurrected Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Jacks as the eulogist.Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
