RB Reeves

WHITWELL Richard Bert "R. B." Reeves (age 87) on Monday, July 8, 2013, has slipped the bonds of this earth to join the family that has gone on before him.He was one of 12 children born to Malachi "Mack" and Kate Alley Reeves. R.B. was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a Mason and a member of Olive Branch Lodge #297. He worked at TVA as an electricians helper until 1952, when he decided to build Crossroads Drive-In Theatre. He operated the Theatre until closing in 1987, and often said the Drive-In was not work because he loved seeing and talking to the all the people. He was also a Whitwell, Tenn. U.S. Post Office Rural Mail Carrier from 1966 to 1987 for Route 3 and Route 1. He loved reading and raising Tennessee Walking Horses on the family farm.Two of his favorite statements were: God gave you two ears and one mouth, you are suppose to look and listen twice as much as you speak, and Dont worry about the things you can't change, worry about the things you can change. He was of the Baptist faith. In his last days, he said: I have had a good wife, good children, and good grandchildren, I am a rich man.He was preceded in death by his parents, Malachi "Mack" and Kate Reeves; sisters, Lilli Mae McHone, Violet Reeves, Viola Condra, Daisy Lee King, Magie Reeves, and Vinea Powell; brothers, Robert N. "Bob", William, Archie and Fredell.He is survived by his wife, Ola Mae Long Reeves, which he was married to for 65 and a half years. His two children, Mack Reeves (Debra Ann Reeves) and Ramona Reeves McEntyre (Tommy McEntyre); and three grandchildren that were the love of his life, Sarah McEntyre Miller (Ryan Miller), Thomas McEntyre and Lydia Reeves. He has one surviving sister, Mildred Donne Coley.Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. CDT on Thursday, July 11, 2013, with Brother Ronnie Cookston officiating.Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.The pallbearers are Randall Reeves, Johnny Spangler, Art Kilgore, Mike Evans, Guy Condra, Wayne McCullough, and Mark Hooper.The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 p.m. CDT today, July 10, 2013.In lieu of flowers, the family request donation be made to the Sequatchie Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
