Thomas Capps

Thomas Albert Capps, 86, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013, following a brief illness.Born April 5, 1927, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Capps was born in Coulterville, Tenn., and lived most of his life in Red Bank. He retired from DuPont in 1982. Mr. Capps attended Red Bank Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and in many other capacities over the years. His beautiful tenor voice was a blessing to many, singing with the Prime Time Singers and the Sanctuary Choir for many years. Mr. Capps loved great food, friends, travel, gardening, all animals, the Atlanta Braves, University of Tennessee football and MASH reruns. Most of all, he loved his sweet wife and was devoted to his family and faith.The son of the late James and Mabel Capps, Thomas was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Mansell Capps; and his brothers Clayton, Clyde, Wallace and Glenn.He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Capps; daughters, Emily Capps and Teresa Headrick (J. David); grandchildren, Brian Gooden (Stacy) and Amy Honeycutt, all of the Chattanooga area. Mr. Capps also has two great-grandsons, many nieces and nephews, and a wonderful stepfamily of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Visitation is at 1 p.m. today, July 12, followed by the Funeral services at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
