Lynda Tucker

Lynda TuckerLynda Margaret Young Tucker passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in a local hospital.She was born in Chattanooga. She attended and graduated from Chattanooga City High School and attended Hiwassee High School in Hiwassee, N.C. She was a graduate of The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Lynda taught Physical Education at several area Junior High schools and one of her passions was girls sports in which she excelled in coaching softball and basketball. She was an avid horseperson, tennis player and she loved her bridge groups. She was a die-hard Big Orange football and basketball fan. Lynda was active in CONTACT of Chattanooga Telephone Ministry for many years, even after being confined to her bed. She was also greatly involved in the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She suffered physically for many years due to her bouts with Multiple Sclerosis but her courageous battle continued and she never gave up. It has often been said that she was an inspiration to everyone she met. She was a long time member of Hixson United Methodist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace Margaret Haskins Young and Ira Bruce Young Jr.; and son Daniel Patrick Tucker.She is survived by daughters, Amanda Tucker Gross and Becky Tucker (Billy) Parr; son, Jonathan (Tricia) Bailey; grandchildren, Breanna Bailey, Dustin Bailey, Daniel Gross and Sarah Paige Gross; and brother, Bruce (Gerri) Young III, cousins, Ed Merritt, Peggy Merritt and Ted (Judy) Stansifer. The date and times will be announced later.In celebration of Lyndas devotion to the Tennessee Volunteers, we will be wearing Orange and White!! Please feel free to join us by dressing accordingly.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local Multiple Sclerosis Society.The family would like to thank the Critical Care Unit of Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion during our mother's final illness.Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
