Charles Murray

Charles "C.W." William Murray, of Hixson, passed away on June 26, 2013. He was 85 years old.C.W. was born in Georgetown, Tenn., and was a 1946 graduate of Hixson High School. He served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. C.W. retired from BASF in 1992. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. C.W. was a member of the East Ridge Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He volunteered at Orange Grove and enjoyed serving as ground crew during the annual charity plane ride fundraiser.He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Thomas and Essie Hixson Murray Sr.; and a younger brother, Timothy James Murray.C.W. is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances Shreeve Murray;children, Margaret Murray-Evans and husband James "Jim" W. Evans, Jr., Lynne Murray Koby and husband, Stan and Jennifer Murray Somerset and husband, John; granddaughter, Erin R. Evans; siblings, Hoyt Murray Jr., Adeline (Jim) Grayson, Fred (Jeanne) Murray, Ed (Mary Sue) Murray and Pat Jackson; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at the North Chapel.Services for C.W. will be held at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home with Minister Steve Lusk officiating.Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.The family would like to suggest memorial contributions be made in C.W.s name to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Suite 102, Chattanooga, TN 37421.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
