Priscilla Bucher

Priscilla Jo Bucher, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, in a local hospital.Priscilla and her twin sister, Dorothy June, were born between bombing raids (Sino-Japanese War) on June 6, 1937, on Hainan Island, South China, where her parents, Reverend Henry Hale Bucher, Sr. and Louise Scott Bucher, served as missionaries with the Presbyterian Church and Church of Christ in China. She spent much of her early life in Asia, including confinement, along with her family, by the Japanese at Los Banos civilian concentration camp in the Philippine Islands during World War II.After graduating from Warren Wilson Junior College in North Carolina, Priscilla continued to live a varied life, staying with numerous family and friends in New Jersey, Thailand, Wisconsin, Florida, Montana and Tennessee. Priscilla was predeceased by her twin sister and her parents. Survivors include siblings and their spouses, Anna Jones (John), of Butte, Montana, Henry Bucher, Jr. (Cat), of Sherman, Texas, Scott Bucher (Courtney), of Chattanooga, Tenn.; numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews in Montana, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Idaho, and Granada, Spain.Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday July 1, at Rivermont Presbyterian Church on Hixson Pike locally, preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. Additional services will be at 11 a.m. on July 27, at Covenant United Methodist Church in Helena, Montana.The family would like to thank Manorhouse Assisted Living for providing their care during Priscilla's last two years.
