Virginia Jo Birchett, 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in Chattanooga.She was born on Jan. 24, 1930 in Chattanooga, to Franklin Washington and Edith Hula Rymer.Jo grew up in Decatur, Tenn. She graduated from Meigs County High School in 1947. After high school she attended a Business School in Chattanooga. She began her career in the secretarial pool at Provident Life & Casualty and advanced to executive vice president during her 28 years of service.Jo married Robert L. "Bob"Birchett in 1952 in Chattanooga. They were happily married for 61 years. Jo was a member of Kingspoint Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and crossword puzzles.Jo is survived by her devoted husband, Bob, of Chattanooga; son, Dan (Sue), of Dayton, Tenn.; sister, Betty Halter, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives.Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edith Rymer; and her sister, Mary Ruth Rothwell.Visitation will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel today from 2 to 6 p.m. when the family will be greeting friends and relatives.Funeral service will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 1.Burial will follow the funeral at National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to New Hope Ministries, P.O.
