Jerry Mayfield

FORT OGLETHORPE Jerry L. Mayfield, 77, departed this life Saturday, March 2, 2013.He was born in Geraldine, Ala., to the late Grady and Armitty Mayfield. Jerry worked for Bunge Foods for 42 years and was a member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class for over 35 years. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gilbreath Mayfield.Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Margie Mayfield; stepsons, Tony (Stephanie) Ellis, Tom (Leigh Ann) Ellis; five step-grandchildren; and his beloved dogs, Sassy and Sam.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in the chapel with Reverends Bill Gardner and Johnny Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. today and prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Homes-Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
