Beatrice Thornton

Beatrice Rebecca Harris Thornton, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at her residence. She was a practicing nurse for more than 40 years. She was a devoted and devout member of the Church of God and Saints of Christ.Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah Harris and Hattie Davis Harris; and sisters, Mary Strawter and Martha Jo Byrd.She will be forever cherished by daughters, Sheila Thornton (Carl) Warfield and Brigitte Thornton (Steve) Julian; grandchildren, Torey Lee (Elizabeth) Hicks, Chani Atiya Warfield, and Taylor Rebecca Thornton; siblings, David Harris, Esther Harris, Rachel Irving, and Ruby Snoddy; devoted nieces, Michelle Foster, Mitzi Davis, Erica Griggs, and Shlonda Ellegor; numerous nieces and nephews; and her four beautiful great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday in the chapel with Elder Kenneth Roberts as the eulogist.Burial: Highland Memorial Gardens.
