Robert Roser

Maj. ROSSVILLE Retired Maj. Robert Fredrick Roser, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2013, at Hospice of Chattanooga.He was born July 13, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Claude and Frances Koepnick Roser.He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17, and was at D Day + 4 and at the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in Korea as liaison to the United Nations.Following Korea, he was transferred to Japan and then to Fort Benning, Ga., where he and Mary met. He began his career as an enlisted man and rose to the rank of Major. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in ergonomics engineering. As an engineer he was instrumental in the design of the F-111 aircraft. He had a great love for dogs, and was a talented poet.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Ellen Roser and Margaret Roser; daughter, Christine Susan Easton; sons, Phillip Gregory Roser and Christopher Lucas Roser; four sisters and two brothers.Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Sheehan Roser; sons, Robert Frederick Roser II, Mark Kevin Roser, Ronald Calvin Roser and Joshua Russell Roser; daughters, Ellen Jane Krickenbarger, Mary Beth Lawless and Tracy (Randy) Kellas; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga Chapel with Rev.
