Majel Akins

Majel R. Akins, 81, of East Ridge, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. She was born Dec. 29, 1931 in Valley Head, Ala., a daughter of the late John O. and Gladys Blansit. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her husband, Jack S. Akins; and her brothers, Neval and Raymond Blansit.She was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church.She is survived by her children, Peggy "Happy" Moyer, Donny J. Akins, Steve R. Akins, David W. Akins and Glen W. Akins; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Merline Christian, Johnnie Hassler and Betty Sue Turner; brothers, Nolan, Norman and Tony Blansit.Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Tylan Blansit officiating.
