Alessandrea "Sandy" Yvette Cummings, 36, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, in a local hospital.She was a member of New Direction Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Joe Q. and Mary L. Millsaps and Jake and Gertrude Cummings; brother, Michael Wilkes.Survivors include son, TrMichael L. Benford; daughter, Jessica B. Cummings; father, Dexter (Aretha Cummings; honorary father, Rev. James Clark; mother, Mary I. Millsaps; brothers, Rev. Dexter L. (Patricia) Cummings and Gerald Cummings; uncles, Joe B. (Minnie) Millsaps and Mickey Cummings; aunts, Rev. Betty J. Millsaps and Rev. Brenda J. Millsaps; companion, Herman Benford, all of Chattanooga; cousin/sister, Deborah Jackson, of Gainesville, Ga.; dearest and life long friend, Timothy Harden of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends.The body will lie-in-state today after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Dexter L. Cummings as the eulogist.Burial: Greenwood Cemetery.
