Charlene Thach

Charlene Margarette Ellis Thach, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013.Charlene was born in Chattanooga on Aug. 28, 1925. She grew up in North Chattanooga and attended Chattanooga "City" High School.Charlene worked as an executive secretary at Combustion Engineering Co. before marrying M.L. Thach in 1950.She was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church and later Stuart Heights Baptist.She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, M.L. Thach; her parents, John R. and Estelle Ellis; and brothers, McGhee and John Jr.She is survived by her brother Bill (Patricia) Ellis, Niceville, Fla,; daughters, Becky (Tom) Jetton, Nancy Crane and Ruth (Preston) Gonter, all of Chattanooga; son, Phil Thach, of Ooltewah; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank NHC of Chattanooga for their loving care of Mrs. Thach.A short visitation and memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, with the Rev. Darrell Davenport officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 22, Chattanooga 37421.Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road.
