James Biddle

James Orville Biddle, 79, born in Millport, Ala. died Sunday, March 17, 2013.Survived by wife of 58 years, Doris Wallace Biddle; daughter, Tawana Brooks, Concord, N.C.; son, Jimmy Biddle (Mary Ann Everett Biddle); grandchildren, Tyler and Toby Brooks, Concord, N.C. Nichole Biddle Gunderson (Sam Gunderson), Trip Biddle, Zane Biddle, Chattanooga and Brooke "Button" Biddle, Richmond, Va.; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth "Elli" Gunderson, Chattanooga; brother, Joe Ed Biddle, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Dorothy McAteer, Bessemer, Ala., and Kathryn Biddle, Harrison, Spartanburg, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Robert and Janine Sturgis, Birmingham, Ala., Oscar and Phylis Parks and Grace Tillman, Chattanooga.He received a B.S. in civil engineering. Worked all over the Southeast in highway and runway bidding and construction and spent eight years in Saudi Arabia with Vulcan Materials Co., Birmingham, Ala.Member of Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC) where he started a visitation to nursing homes in the area called Tender Loving Care. He visited between 30-50 people each month. He also worked on numerous mission trips to Mississippi, Nashville and Costa Rica.Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pilot, civil engineer, entrepreneur, volunteer, last of the red hot lovers, Driver of the Big Iron Bird.A memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church with Mark Flynn and David Hall Officiating.Family visitation one hour before service.A special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga and Anatomy Gifts Registry.In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Chattanooga or Christ United Methodist Church Missions would be appreciated.
