Benton Scoggins

Benton Potter Scoggins, 90, of Harrison, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2013, from his earthly home. He was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.Benton was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as the Post Master of the Harrison Post Office for over 20 years and severed his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Warren and Emma Scoggins; first wife, Evelyn Scoggins; three brothers, Warren Scoggins Jr., Alvie Scoggins and Albert Scoggins.He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty Jean Scoggins; two sons, Michael (Stephany) Scoggins, of Hixson, and Arlie (Julie) Rogers, of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Elaine (Jimmy) Anderson, and Rochelle (Richard) Kirk; one sister, Bobbie Fugate, all of Harrison; seven grandchildren, Chris (Alicia), Hannah (BJ), Arlie III, Michael, Houston, Jacob, Noah and Calab; two great-grandchildren, Bobby and Malia; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends today from 2-8 p.m. and on Sunday up to the hour of service at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home or you may visit the online guest book @ www.turnerfamilyfuneralhome.com.Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Toby Brogden officiating. Internment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors.Arrangements are by Turner Funeral Home, Inc., Highway 58 Chapel 622-3171.
