LaFAYETTE James "Jamie" Marion Russell, 81, formerly of Mableton, Ga. died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. Jamie was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired after 58 years of service with Paradies Company in Atlanta. Preceded in death by wife, Maggie Aileen Russell; parents, Claude and Gladys Russell; sister, Barbara Jean Missroon; and brother, Howard Russell. Survived by daughters, Perri (Wayne) Ballard, of LaFayette; Sandy (Lewis) Rogers, of Mableton, Ga.; son, Jimmy "Bubba" Russell; sister, Gail (Ken) Barber; brothers, Richard (Thea) Russell, all of LaFayette; grandchildren, Stephanie Ballard and fianc, Joe Massingill, Jason ( Stefani) Ballard, Damon (Cristy) Ballard, all of LaFayette; Leslie (Patrick) Cooper, of Chickamauga, Landon Rogers and Stephanie Cantrell, all of Mableton, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Kayli Ballard, Andrew Cooper, Grace Cooper, Gage Massingill and Logan Massingill. Funeral from the Wallis Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday. Service conducted by pastors Todd Smith, Patrick Cooper and Henry Swafford. Interment: Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m. in Mableton, Ga. with military honors. Pallbearers: Tony Steele, Lamar Steele, Eddie Steele, Jim Bo Steele, Wayne Russell, Wayne Kimbrell, Wayne Wimble and Tommy Ballard. Honorary pallbearers: Buddy Hughes, Wesley Steele. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. today. Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
