Louise Johnson

Louise Holland Johnson, 97, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013. Louise, daughter of Nettie and Hayes Holland, was born on July 16, 1916, in McKenzie, Tenn., where she grew up on a dairy farm with five siblings. She attended Bethel College where she met and married her late husband, W. Claude Johnson. For many years she worked at Orange Grove Center and Siskin Pre-School. She loved helping others by volunteering at St. Barnabas, local hospitals, and Meals-on-Wheels. Louise was known for preparing great meals for her family. She was a member of the Friendship Class at Brainerd Methodist for over 50 years. Survivors include, daughters, Amelia (Barry) Hopper, of Bristol, Martha (Kemmer) Anderson, of Signal Mountain, and Rebecca (Nelson) Green, of Athens; and son, William Johnson, of California; grandchildren, Laura Fleenor, Brian Hopper and Scott Hopper; and nine great-grandchildren. Her family is very grateful to the staff of Elmcroft on Shallowford for their loving care of our mother. The Memorial service will be at Brainerd United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, with Dr. Dennis Flaugher and the Rev. Genevieve DeHoog officiating; Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brainerd United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S. Moore Road.
