Thomas Montooth

Thomas W. Montooth, known as "T", "Tom", and "Can Man", 85, of East Ridge flew away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013. He was born in Roane County, Tenn., where he was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and had lived in the Chattanooga area for 25 years. His passions in life were walking 1 1/2hours per day, picking up cans, mowing grass, working in the garden, and sitting on the front porch in his rocking chair. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgle and Wilmer Montooth; sister, Bobbie G. Forshee; sister-in-law, Joyce Montooth; and nephew, Jeffrey Montooth. Survivors include his brother, Virgle Montooth, Jr., of Roane County Tenn.; sisters, Joyce Montooth Key and Janice F. Greer, both of East Ridge; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Condolences may be sent to www.lanesouthcrestchapel.com. Celebration of life services will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church located at Paint Rock Valley Rd Philadelphia, TN 37846 with Reverend Tommy Patterson officiating. Thomas will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 5-9p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Celebration of life Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville, GA.
