During his career, he received many awards for his accomplishments including being one of the first inductees into the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, the reception of the Outstanding Tennessean Award, presented to him by Governor Ned McWherter in 1994, and selection for the Circle of Hope Award from the Arthritis Foundation in 1991. Jim's strong sense of community, paired with his love and pride for Chattanooga and Hamilton County were evidenced by his participation in, and serving on, numerous boards, commissions, and committees, including River City Board, Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Board, Tennessee Aeronautical Commission, and the Arthritis Foundation among many others. His lasting influence upon the culture and landscape of the Chattanooga area are unmistakable and will be recognized for many years to come.
