Dorothy Whitaker, of Red Bank, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 2013.She was the daughter of the late Josie Smith and was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Whitaker; brothers, William L. Rogers and Robert E. Smith; and sisters, Lorene Weber and Mary Reba "Betty" Hughes.Dorothy attended Calvary Baptist Church in Hixson and previously attended Lupton Drive Baptist Church. She was the manager of Alpine Garden Apartments in Red Bank owned by her good friends, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Barnett.Survivors include six nieces, Gracie Lee Rogers, of Red Bank, Brenda (David) Hershley, of Red Bank, Diane Rogers, of Phoenix City, Ala., Julia Smith and Peggie (Rev. Donald) Kelley, of Hixson; nephews, Bobby Smith Jr., of Missouri and Terry Smith, of Ashville, N.C.; sister-in-law, Syble Smith Ooten. of Soddy-Daisy; and her friend, Linda Lanier. of Red Bank. Funeral services are 11 Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Rev. Donald Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
