Edward Robinson

Edward L. Robinson died Tuesday evening, Oct. 8, 2013, in the comfort of his home.Mr. Robinson was a pioneer in many ways. He was the first African American pharmacist assistant. He served in the U.S. Air Force alongside the Tuskegee Airmen. He was a World War II Veteran. He also served as a master welder for Combustion where he retired in 1981.He was proceeded in death by Mrs. Edwina Robinson his wife of 38 years and together they founded E&E Supermarkets. In the words of E.L. Robinson, they started the following mess of the Robinson clan.He leaves to cherish his legacy six children, Kirkland Robinson, Sandra Deloria (Roosevelt) Gunn, Larry (Gloria) Robinson, Lebron Robinson, Chattanooga; James (Sharlene) Robinson, Cheryl (Vic) Thompson, Atlanta; and one sister, Willie Mae Smith, of Chattanooga; 20 grandchildren, Terrance, Montez, Tawanna, Corey, Eric, Jermaine, Sharrell, Atasha, Kevin, Kenshia, Tomika, Andrienne, Jazzmyne, Bria, Juwan, Courtney, Branden, Quinton, Richelle and Ricky; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of loving cousins, family and friends.Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Second Missionary Baptist Church.Interment in National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
