Bobby Ward

Bobby Ward, 79, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed from this life to his eternal home in heaven on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013. Mr. Ward was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. He was a graduate of Howard High School, Zion College, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Covenant College. He served his country in two branches of the military, The United States Army and Air Force for well over 20 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant, and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Throughout his life he was dedicated to his church and numerous organizations. He served as President of the NAACP, Chattanooga Chapter, an elected officer of the American Legion Post 121, Day Care operator at the Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church, and founder and CEO of Neighborhood Christian Child Development Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Bobby Ward was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bud and Ada Ward; two sisters; two brothers; son, Bobby Ward Jr.; and daughter, Barnessa Jordan. He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Roger (Alfredia) Ward, of Atlanta, Ga., and Rodney Dewayne Ward, of Chattanooga; grandsons, Bobby Ward III, Roger Ward, Jr., Sydney Ward, and Jonathan Ward; granddaughters, Princess Ward and Niakia Ward; six great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.Visitation will be today at 7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday, at Noon in the Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rice as the eulogist.Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
