Linda Green

Linda Kaye Smith Green departed this earthly life to be with her creator on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013.She was born on March 19, 1948, in Alabama where she and her five siblings were raised in the Greenhill community. Linda has been a leader in her community; her unselfish nature was prevalent in the care she showed to others, putting their needs ahead of her own. Even while fighting bravely through her own illness for several years, she has continued to be an inspiration to her family and friends by remaining positive and encouraging everyone around her to do the same. Her devotion to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother and sister will forever have a lasting impact in their hearts, as well as the hearts of so many other lives she has touched.Although formerly of Lawrenceburg, Linda and her husband of 39 years, Bobby Green, have both resided in Ooltewah for the last 20 years. She retired from Rubber Maid in Cleveland, Tenn. Linda remained active in her community as a faithful member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church where she was a member of Watts Sunday School Class. She served as Past Matron and secretary of the Ooltewah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #365.She was preceded in death by her parents, Odie and Lorene Springer Smith; brothers, Eugene and Doyle Smith; half sister, Leeodie Wilson.She is survived by her husband Bobby Green of Ooltewah; son, Sam (Lwanna) Clifft, of Leoma, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Shanna (Jeff) Gibbons, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Jake Clifft, of Leoma, Tenn.; brother, Gaylon Smith, of Clarksville, Tenn.; sisters, Della Mae (Larry) Hughes, of Florence, Ala., Diane (Ronnie) Fisher, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and half-sister, Lottie Williamson of Indiana; and a host of family and friends.The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today, Oct. 29, 2013, at Chattanooga Valley View Chapel, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga.The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. at Ooltewah United Methodist Church, 6131 Relocation Way, Ooltewah, with Dr. Dwight S. Kilbourne officiating.Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. Friends will serve as pallbearers.Arrangements by Dalton Funeral Home, 620 S.
