Robert Owen

, Jr.Robert Franklin Owen, Jr., 82, of East Ridge passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at his home. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1974 after 26 years of service and had served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Owen was recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and numerous other medals and commendations. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992.He was past Commander and Board Member of American Legion Post 95. He had been a member of Post 95 for over 40 years. He also supported and was involved with many other veteran organizations.Those who knew Retired Master Sergeant Robert "Bobo" Owen, Jr. would agree that his character and personality were over the top. He chose to live his life for God and Country.He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Genene F. Owen; best friend, MSG. Edwin Crawley; brother Sam Owen.Survivors include his chosen son, Edwin Patrick Crawley; Goddaughter, Kathy Goins; Godsons, Scott and Brett Crawley; friend, Mrs. Ernestine Hall.Private graveside services with full military honors will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Patrick Crawley and the Rev.
