Daniel Becker

Daniel Arthur Becker, 82, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, surrounded by his wonderful wife and family. His last eight weeks were spent in Chattanooga, undergoing medical treatment. Born July 30, 1931, in York, Pa., he made Laurel, Del., his home for the past 21 years.Daniel was an automotive master mechanic and avid gardener, had a great love for God, his family and nature. His life was an example of diligence, patience, consistency, and living what he believed. He was known for his willingness to help others, his great sense of humor, his inner strength, and his belief in, and support of, Christian Education, shown by his love, devotion and involvement with countless students at multiple schools during his wifes 28-year teaching career. He was a faithful member of the Seaford, Delaware, Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as Head Elder and Community Services Leader among other duties.He was preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Martha L. Becker; brothers, William, John, Allison and Ronald Becker; and grandson, Jonathan Arner.Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte Hade Becker; his six children, Cheryl Arner, Dennis (Debbie) Becker, Karen (John Jelen) Ryder, Cindy (Chester) Schurch, Kevin (Janet) Becker, and Janet Accardo; eight grandchildren, Justin Arner, Jennifer Stuckey, Tim (Brittany) Ryder, Byron (Aton) Schurch, Angela and Christopher Schurch, Jessica Accardo (James) Cathey, and Kaitlyn Accardo; two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Andrew Cathey; two brothers, Richard and Robert Becker; four sisters, Virginia Roberts, Mary Reppert, Edna Halstead and Connie Donnelly; and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Apison SDA Church, 11421 Bates Road, Apison, TN 37302. The funeral service will immediately follow at the above location at 2 p.m., with Pastor Chester Schurch officiating.Interment will be at Collegedale Memorial Gardens, Collegedale.Floral arrangements are welcome or a memorial donation may be sent in honor of Daniel A.
