Gary Donald Coley, 76, of Hixson, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.Gary was born in Talladega, Ala. to the late Malcolm and Willie Davis Coley on Aug. 5, 1937.Gary Donald Coley graduated from Mumford High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Athens State University.He was married to Barbara Ann Jones on July 3, 1957.Gary D. Coley had a career in computer science for G.E., Computer Science Corporation and Tennessee Valley Authority.He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church, Sertoma Club, where he was awarded the Distinguished service award for 35 years and avid-golfer and member of Creeks Bend Golf Club.Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Willie Belle Coley; brothers, Malcolm Coley Jr., Allen Coley, Lamar Coley; sister, Frances Purdy.Gary is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann Coley; son, Gregory Donald Coley; daughters, Teresa Ann Coley and Melissa Marie Crosby; brothers, Jerry Coley, Robert Coley; sisters, Martha Wells, Sarah Hughes, Johnnie (Pat) Powell.The family will receive friends noon-2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, from at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.Funeral service for Gary will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Reed Shell and Rev.
