Charles Curtis

ROSSVILLE Charles F. Curtis 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at a local health care facility.Mr. Curtis had lived most of his life in the LaFayette and Rossville area where he was the former owner of the Rossville Exxon station. He retired from the Walker County School System in 1991 having worked in the transportation department for nine years and he was a member of Noble Church of God.He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sarah and France Curtis; son, Eddie Curtis; brothers, Billy and Bobby Curtis; and sister, Betty Stephens.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Shirley Curtis; children, Charles Curtis Jr. (Georgina), of Sale Creek, Tenn., Debbie (Steve) Saylors, of Rossville, Randy (Sara) Curtis of Chickamauga, Ga., and Dale Owens, of Cookeville, Tenn.; brothers Tommy Curtis, of Cookeville, Tenn., Ronnie Curtis, of Winchester, Tenn.; sister, Lillian Stephens, of Winchester, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Physicians at Erlanger Hospital as well as to Hospice of Chattanooga for their care and compassion.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the South Crest Chapel with the Rev. Henry Hampton officiating.Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
