FORT OGLETHORPE Gregory "Greg" McCommon, 54, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at a local health care facility.He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia area and was a member of the Chattanooga First Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid sports fan who had a wealth of sports trivia knowledge and he was also a UT Football fan.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Geraldine McCommon.Survivors include his daughter, Regan McCommon, of Houston, Texas; brother, Perry McCommon, of Hixson; special aunts, Yvonne Browning and Rena McCommon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in the South Crest Chapel.The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
