Frank Tapley

ROSSVILLE Franklin "Frank" Bennett Tapley Sr., 74, departed this life Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013.He was born in Chattanooga to the late James Thomas and Anna Belle Tapley. Frank retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service as a nuclear electrician. He also belonged to the Sub Vets and Holland Club.He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Darlene Tapley Averett; grandchildren, Christina Nicole Tapley, Jamie Bonner; siblings, James Thomas Tapley Jr., Richard Eugene Tapley, Mary V. Ailey; and sister-in-law, Tabaitha H. Tapley.Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Tapley, of Rossville; children, Frankie (Cindy) Tapley, of Graysville, Tenn., Mary Jane Dykes, of Johnson City, Tenn., Rose (Warren) Day, Christopher Kai Tapley, all of Rossville, Amanda Uvada Broadrick, of Texas; brother, Pete Tapley, of Fort Oglethorpe; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Honors.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post #95, 3329 Ringgold Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412.Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
