Leonard Jackson

Jr.Leonard "Skippy" Jackson Jr., 64, of Chattanooga, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly father on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013.He was born Nov. 8, 1948 to the late Leonard Jackson Sr., and Mildred M. Jackson. He served in the bus ministry and usher ministry at Second Missionary Baptist Church.He was a 1967 graduate of Riverside High School in Chattanooga and attended Tennessee State University in Nashville. He retired from Combustion Engineering/ Alstom Power. After retirement he returned to the business that his father started driving cab for Jackson Cab.He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Jackson Sr.; and his daughter, Muriel Sammons.Left to cherish his memory are his son, Mark Jackson; daughter, Marsha (Curtis) Drake; son-in-law, Anthony Sammons; mother, Mildred Jackson; brothers, Ralph Lillard Jr. and Wayne Jackson; sister, Glenda Jackson; grandsons, Richard Sammons, Curtis "CJ" Drake and Chase Drake; granddaughters, Lauryn Jackson, Laila Jackson; a host of relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul McDaniel Officiating.Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
