Benny Conner

Edwin Lamar "Benny" Conner, 77, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at a local hospital. He was a devoted husband, son, and avid sports fan. He retired from DuPont after 40 years of service. He was a member of the John Henry Pierce Masonic Lodge #752 F&AM, and a member of the Scottish Rite Society. He was also a member of the Tennessee Army Reserve. He was of the Church of God faith. Benny never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy; parents, James and Myrtle Conner; sisters, Helen Kelly and Ruth Hogue; brothers, Flavis, Glen, and E.C. Conner. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Ashworth, of Soddy-Daisy, and Rene Holloway, of Taylor, Mich.; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be noon Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Dewayne Hill officiating. Masonic Services will follow in the chapel. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Shriners (Alhambra Shriners, 1000 Alhambra Dr., Chattanooga, 37421) and/or St. Jude (Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
