Joey Rutherford

Joseph Allen "Joey" Rutherford, 29, of Signal Mountain, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Signal Mountain and of the Baptist faith. Joey served his community as a Volunteer Fireman for 18 years at Lone Oak Volunteer Fire Department. He was a 2003 graduate of Sequoyah High School and employed with Invista the last six years. Joey was a proud father. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack Rutherford and Margaret and Simmie Vandergriff. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Smith Rutherford; sons, Noah Allen Rutherford, Tanner Jack Rutherford and Joseph Ayden Rutherford; parents, Richard Rutherford Sr. and Beverly Vandergriff Rutherford; brothers, Christopher (Juanita) Rutherford and Richard (Lori) Rutherford Jr.; grandmother, Ada Estell Rutherford; nieces, Chastity Rutherford, Baillie Coffelt and Madison Coffelt. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Christopher Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery with Josh Partin, Robert Clark, Daniel Givens, Jeremy Clark, Matt Brogan and Chris Hooks serving as pallbearers. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a benefit has been established for his three sons where donations can be made at any SunTrust Bank branch.
