Mildred Biggs

Mildred Biggs, 85, of Chattanooga passed Monday, March 24 2014. She received her education from Talladega College, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Detroit and Western Michigan University. She was the first African American principal of an integrated school in 1969. She received the Sojourner Truth Meritorious Service Award; named Boss of the year by Albion Jaycees and active in many churches and a member of the American Michigan Hall of Fame. She is survived by niece, Elaine (Edwin Sr.) Dunbar, Dr. Winnie Dunbar-Davies, Mildred Dunbar, Edwin Dunbar Jr., William Dunbar, Calvin Dunbar, Abraham Dunbar, Irving Dunbar, Kerry Smith, Earl Smith, Pam Smith and a host of other relatives and friends. Family hour from 1 until 2 p.m. today April 2, 2014.
