Ruth Tidwell

Ruth McAlister Tidwell, 89, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2014. Ruth was a member of Bayside Baptist Church and the Bayside Napfe Sunday School Class. She retired from the Dietary Department at East Ridge Hospital. She was born June 8, 1924 to the late Walter G. McAlister and Ada Bell McAlister. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ishell V. Tidwell; daughter, Phyllis Marie; three brothers; two sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda (Larry) Mowery, of Harrison, Wanda Selvage, of Old Hickory, Tenn.; son, Ron (Helen) Tidwell, of Rising Fawn, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great- great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Grady Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Larry Mowery Jr., Shannon Mowery, Randall Stanley, Tyler Mowery, Ronnie Tidwell Jr. and Jonathon Tidwell serving as pallbearers.
