Jerrol Smith

Jerrol Denning Smith, 70, passed away at Life Care of Red Bank on Thursday, April 17, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 18, 1943. Jerrol was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Smith and Norma S. Bailey. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Vest Smith; daughter, Jennifer E. Smith, both of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Kari (Brandon) Rheal, of Whitwell, and Brianna Lewis, of Chattanooga; great-grandson, Gavin Rheal; sister, Vicki (John) Wells, of Jasper; aunt, Joyce B. Thomas, Hermitage, Tenn.; brother-in-law, John Vest, of Old Fort, Tenn.; a special cousin, Monte (Wanda) Barber, of Signal Mtn.; several nieces; one nephew; and many cousins. Jerrol served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Thailand. He worked most of his life in road construction through the Operating Engineers Union # 917, his last job being with Stein Construction Co. Jerrol enjoyed contacting his many friends on ham radio many of them being his Army buddies. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. CST today, April 18, 2014. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. CDT Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Military Honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard with Rev. Gary Shirley officiating.
