Mary Evelyn Johnson

Mary Evelyn Smith Johnson, 89, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. She was a teachers aide at Soddy Elementary for nine years. Mary Evelyn loved sewing, cooking, and creating arts and crafts. She along with her late husband, Lou Johnson, were very benevolent with their time, resources and their love to everyone. She had previously attended Soddy Community Chapel where she was very active with Vacation Bible School and other church activities. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lou Willard Johnson; her parents, Frank and Sarah Smith; and all her siblings, Edith Clift, Elizabeth Smith, Irene Yother, Sarah Jane Smith, Walter Smith, Willard Smith, Arthur Smith, W.H. Smith and LeRoy Smith. Mary Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Gabby Williamson; daughter and son-in-law, Ressa and Ronnie Payne, son and daughter-in-law, Stephen L. and Betty Johnson, daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Alan Burdine; grandchildren, Jimmy Williamson II, LuAnna Narramore, Leslie Smith, John Williamson, Gina Wolfe-Driver, Melanie Sullivan, Janna Hodge, Stephen Johnson, Bethany Smith, Julie Brown, Brittany Shields, Christopher Burdine and Katelyn Burdine; great-grandchildren, Halie and Anna Williamson, Dillon, Logan and Montana Narramore, Nicole and Austin Williamson, Carter and Lila Brown, Blythe Hodge, Trevor and Elijah Smith, Tyler and Allison Wolfe-Driver, Shelby and Jacob Sullivan, Briana and Payton Smith, Joshua and Shannon Johnson, Sydney Roberts, Jonathan and Jaxon Shields; three great-great-grandchildren, Presley Narramore, Jax Narramore and Olivia Narramore; two sisters-in-law, Inez Smith and Clarice Smith; a brother-in-law, James Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Everette Warnock officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was a very loving wife, mother, granny, great-granny, great-great-granny who will be deeply missed.
