Charles Smith

Charles Franklin Smith, 67, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at a local hospital. He was an active member of ChristWay Community Church in Ooltewah. Charles was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and retired from Alstom Power after 39 years of service; afterward he became a tax assessor for H&R Block. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Smith. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Sue Smith; mother, Gertrude Smith, of East Ridge; sons, Daniel Smith, of Adairsville, Ga., and Allen (Dosha) Smith, of Ooltewah; sisters, Debra (Gerald) Raughton, of Chattanooga, and Peggy (John) Justice, of Rodchester, Minn.; grandchildren, Cassidy, Carly, Brandon, Makayla, Joseph and Isabella; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Waters officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
