Evelyn Allen

Evelyn Rather Allen, 81, of Harrison, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from a local hospital after a brief illness. She recently retired from Gene Longley & Associates. She was very active in the Harrison First Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer and on various committees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Allen; parents, Ella and Herman Rather; sisters, Reva Wright and Sissy Milsaps; one brother, Jim Rather. Survivors include children, Mike (Debbie) Allen, of Harrison, Tim (Vickie) Allen, of Homestead, Fla., and Stuart (Denise) Allen, of Harrison; one sister, Clarice Braden, of Harrison; one brother, Dick Rather, of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home, or you may visit the online guestbook @ www.turnerfamilyfuneralhome.com. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Marvin McClendon and Rev. Boddie Blackwell officiating.
