Molly Pryor

Molly Kate Pryor, 33, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. Molly was born in Chattanooga, to parents Andrew C and Betsi Pryor. Molly attended Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences and graduated from Girls Preparatory School. She continued her studies at Columbia University in New York City completing a bachelors degree in history and a masters degree in art history and curatorial studies. She had recently moved back to Chattanooga after living in New York City for about 12 years. While in New York she worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the ZieherSmith Gallery. She also worked at several restaurants such as 'ino, Prime Meats, Aldea, Corkbuzz and 'inoteca. After returning to Chattanooga she worked at Easy Bistro, and most recently, at the Hunter Museum of American Art. Molly had a passion for learning in all things, and particularly, art, history, literature and music. She was a loyal and dedicated friend who will be dearly missed by many. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew C. Pryor; and grandparents Francis W. and Katherine Nobles Pryor and George M. and Ruth Bishop. Survivors are her fianc, Timothy McAvoy; her mother, Betsi Pryor, both from Chattanooga; her brother, Andy Gabe Pryor, of Fort Collins, Colo.; and her special dog, Delia. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. today, Feb. 1, at Key-Andrews Hall at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at West Seventh and Pine Streets. Active Pallbearers are Joey Berkley, Sam Gunn, Travis Headrick, Patrick Kirby, Phil Pollock and Stephen Valedez. Honorary Pallbearers are Tally Glover, Michael Goodman, Aldine Ketner, John B. Montgomery, Chris Pryor and David Pryor. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the church with the Rev. Dr. H. Hunter Huckabay Jr., the Rev. Dr. Donald Fishburne and the Rev. Suzanne N. Smitherman officiating. Interment will be at 3:45 p.m. EST in Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hunter Museum of American Art.
