Betty Watson

Betty Jo Bevel Watson, 77, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014. A lifelong resident of the area and a retiree of TVA. She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School. In addition to her many years of service with TVA, she also worked for the city of Bridgeport, Ala., for a number of years. She was very active in her chapter of the TVA Retirees Association, serving for a number of years as the treasurer of the group. Additionally, she was very active in a number of community service projects through the years including renovation of the Bridgeport Depot, building of the Bridgeport Community Center and various Class Reunions. Mrs. Watson was a member of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Watson; parents, Edward and Laura Bevel; brothers, John and Robert Bevel; and sister, Odessa Werner. She is survived by her son, Bryan Watson, of Oceanside, Calif.; grandson, Zachary Watson; and great-grandson, Isaiah Watson, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Bessie B. Graham, of Cookeville, Tenn.; nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. CST today at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Ala. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CST Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Rudder Funeral Home chapel.
