Dr. Marva Rudolph

Dr. Marva Odessa Lane Rudolph, 64, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014. Dr. Rudolph was a native of Chattanooga, and was a graduate of Riverside High School class of 1967. She received a bachelors of arts degree from Knoxville College in 1971, a masters degree in Urban Planning from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1975, and doctorate of political science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2007. Dr. Rudolph was the associate vice chancellor and director of equity & diversity of the University of Tennessee. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. since 1996. Dr. Rudolph is survived by her husband, Johnnie Rudolph; her son, John Marcus Rudolph, of Knoxville; and her daughter, Janna Michelle Rudolph, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; her brother, Larry Lane, of Chattanooga; and sister, Mildred McKibbens, of Richmond, Va. Preceded in death by brother, Richard Lane; father, Major Marvin Lane; mother, Evelyn Jones Lane; grandmother, Minnie Lawrence; and grandmother, Lela Robinson. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Black Cultural Center located at 1800 Melrose Ave., Knoxville, TN 37996 on the University of Tennessee Campus.
